I built my first websites in the mid 1990’s. I quickly became aware of the need for accessibility when a blind colleague commented to me that everyone was so happy about images being available on the web, but for me, the only thing I get is my screen reader announcing ‘image’.
I already had a passion for accessibility in the built environment. It was only natural that my accessibility and web interests merge.
Over the last 20+ years, I have spoken about disability awareness, inclusion, and of course, web accessibility at conferences throughout North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. I have also spoken at private events at large corporations, tertiary education, health and government organizations.
I well remember one of my first speaking experiences at a large conference. It was nerve-wracking. I knew my topic, but I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. I was concerned about my slides. I was worried about the audience’s reaction. Of course, none of the disaster I thought my befall me happened. All the worries turned into an exhilarating experience. I haven’t looked back!
I’d love to work with you!
